Death of a duck

Death of a duck

The female of the two ducks that resided in the fountain in front of the Cerritos College Student Center is missing.

In an anonymous letter written to the editor of Talon Marks, the author alleges that the “duck was seen dead next to the Elbow Room at the west end of the L.A. building.”

“There was a small splatter marks (of blood) next to the body, so it’s obvious the duck didn’t die of natural causes,” the letter read.

“The ducks were fairly easy to approach and some asshole took advantage of that and gave her a kick.”

According to the letter, the murder “must have taken place at approximately 5:45 p.m. on April 12.”

Marvin Engquist, Chief of Campus Police, questions the authenticity of the murder. “I think the whole thing is a hoax.”

Hoax or not, the female duck is missing.

But unfortunately there is no evidence of the crime because the event was not reported to campus police.

The pair of ducks, male and female have been residents of the school for a couple of years. Usually residing in the fountain and occasionally walking around campus. Students have become accustomed and friendly with the pair

Matthew Pastran, math major, used to feed the pair. “They were very friendly. It’s a shame.”

Nancy Lopez, pharmacy major, is one of the many students who have noticed the duck missing and is disgusted with the nature of the crime.

“That’s sad and cruel,” Lopez said.

“Who ever did it has no life,” said Marisa Vera, undeclared major.

Others believe that the crime was done for religious purposes. “It was probably done for a ritual,” said Cheng Sung, pharmacy major.

As for the male of the pair, “he is flying from place to place looking for his missing partner,” concluded the letter.

“Poor little duck is all alone now,” frowned Emily Campos, Psychology major.

“Just because some idiot decided it was fun to hurt an innocent animal.”

“I think the killer should be caught and fined for animal cruelty and evaluated at a mental hospital,” added Campos.

John Feniza, Pharmacy major, suggests to “capture another duck from Liberty park and bring it to Cerritos College as a new mate for the lonely duck.”
