Cerritos College is the most technologically advanced community college in the state and the Cerritos library could possibly be the most technologically advanced library in California.

With the completion of the library’s $35 million expansion, it has grown significantly from its small beginnings in 1973.

After two expansions, the library is now over 88,000 square feet. That leaves room for more books, cd-roms, magazines, newspapers, videos and DVD’s for the citizens of Cerritos and visitors alike to check out or use for research.

The library has three different levels with different sections that are theme based.

On the first level the theme is “Main Street.” It lies between the children’s section of the library, which is to the left with the theme of “Save the Planet.” To the right is the “Old World” theme section.

The children’s section consists of an aquarium and internet computers that allow access to safe sites only. The second level is inspired by the 21st century. It provides ports for those with laptops.
