The Board has once again made a decision concerning the health benefits of the Cerritos College faculty members.

Since the faculty are still deciding on their decision weather to go union or not the Board took it upon themselves to change the health benefits of the faculty, rather than waiting for the faculties’ final decision and then discussing possible options for a new benefits package.

Because the decision was made with out discussion the faculty felt left out of what they thought was an open family where they could discuss all issues calmly and fairly.

Although the faculty recognizes the intentions of the board, a certain question is still burning in everyone’s mind. Why couldn’t the Board just wait till after the faculty finalized their decision, instead of taking it upon themselves to make the decision for the faculty?

Last Tuesday the Board met and decided to discuss once more the faculties’ benefits since the issue is affecting so many. The Board has not yet changed their decision, but the faculty has come together and made some resolutions that will be discussed at the next meeting.

Although the Board was quick to make decisions the faculty is anxious to begin working and discussing with the Board on this issue.

There will be a special meeting held on Thursday for the Boards decision on the 2003 health benefits package.
