Up in smoke?

Up in smoke?

Could you imagine not smoking on campus? Not being able to smoke in a public place outdoors?

Well a law has recently been passed saying that no smokers can be within five feet of a building well smoking on campus.

This law reflects on all Cal State Universities, and since Cerritos College is run by the state, it may effect the campus as well.

The Board of Trustees is giving each school president the power to increase the distance of five feet to however far they choose.

This can eventually lead to specific smoking areas on each campus.

“They should have designated spots for smoking, certain areas where you are allowed to,” said English major Evenly Blas.

Putting a ban on smoking near the outside of buildings is supposed to help stop second hand smoke on school campuses.

The California State law that had just passed does not completely ignore the students who choose to smoke on campus.

A decision on how far from the building entrances a smoker has to be, or if smoking is going to be banned completely from the campus will be made after students have given input and say what they have to say about whether this decision is right or not.
