Project Love 2002 gives more than material gift’s

Have you ever wanted to help out a child who you knew was in need of help? Well now is the time to start. Project Love 2002, which is organized by Professor Marla Burns, who teaches in Liberal Arts, encourages students to collect gifts for kids in poverty.

The process is simple. All students do is go to Burns’ office, and pick a child that he or she would like to help. All the kids are from the Little Singer School on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona.

“The kids usually have a list of three wishes of what they would like as a gift.

It can range anywhere from puzzles, dolls, or school supplies,” said AlvaAcosta, the division clerk in the Liberal Arts office.

When you give a gift, they are driven to the school in the second week ofNovember and given to the children.

Perhaps the sweetest thing is that the child you choose sends back theirartwork for you as a big thank you. Or perhaps the best thing is that you get to help someone’s day seem a little bit brighter. For further information, please contact Marla Burns at extension 2808 or in her office at the LA building, office D from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
