Gobble, Gobble!

Cerritos College takes pleasure in hosting it’s annual “Turkey Trot” walk/run on November 19. The “Turkey Trot” has been going on at Cerritos since the Fall of 1998 and works with the community to donate canned foods to needy families for the holidays. So far, about 50 people have signed up, but on average about 200 people sign up for the event. The event is held on November 19 and will start at 11:05 sharp, beginning in Falcon Square. It is a walk/run of about 2 miles. Dr. Carrie Gleckner of the Physical Education and Recreation Division, feels that in the long run, the Trot benefits everybody. “This event brings the campus and the community together to get to know one another and have fun,”said Gleckner, “But at the same time, it’s helping out families that need helping out.” Still not enough motivation for you? The department is also doing raffles on the morning of the Trot. “We usually raffle away movie passes, gift certificates, and T-shirts, “said Gleckner, “But this year, we’re thinking about tickets for the aquarium, six flags, Disneyland, or Knotts Berry Farm.” Basically, in the beginning, you guess the time that you think you will finish the 2 mile path in. If you are the person who estimates their time most accuratly, you win a prize. So how do you become a turkey trotter? you can either register in the Physical Education Department or you can register from 9:30 to 10:55 a.m. in Falcon Square on Nov. 19th. For more information, contact Dr. Carrie Gleckner or Ni Bueno at extension 2876.
