The Cerritos College Dance Department finally debuted it’s long awaited Fall Dance Concert on Thursday night at 8 p.m.
Although the weather outside was wet and cold, that didn’t stop people from lining up at 7 p.m. outside Burnight Center Theatre.
“I’ve been waiting for this show,” said Carol Hurtado. “I’m not letting alittle rain get in my way.”
The theatre was packed with families and friends. But not everyone thatattended was there because they wanted to be there. Many students were there because it was an assignment from an instructor.
The show had 12 different dances and ranged from ballet, jazz, world dance, and modern jazz.
Yet all the pieces were so eclectic that they ranged from belly dancing toconstruction workers dancing with ladders.
“It was such a rush to perform tonight,” said Octavia Turner, one of thedancers in the performance.
Yet not everything has been fun and games for the dancers of the fallconcert.
Angela Betancourt, one of the lead Ballerina’s in the work, was “tired, very happy, but tired!”
“We’ve had rehearsals for 5 day’s a week, for 2 months. This has all payed off though,” said Betancourt.
Throughout the show, the dance departments pieces kept everyoneentertained and hoping to repeat the experience again next year.
