Did I miss out on reading anything about the death of Ann Hanson? Or did you just miss out on writing a great story about a wonderful and very loved member of the Cerritos College staff (Disabled Students Program & Services)?
I am new to the Disabled Students Program and did not know Ann very well.
However, I attended the memorial for her today held near the Student Center area of Falcon Square. Many [of the] staff of DSPS and students attended as we wrote on cards and sent them up with balloons. We had the small yet lovely ceremony so that we could all say good-bye to a very helpful, kind, and loved woman who will be missed dearly by many of us in DSPS.
It seems to me that many of the disabled students feelings and events might get over looked sometimes. But then again I might just have missed all the wonderful write- ups you do about the disabled students programs and club. We even have a beautiful and warm spirited young woman running for Homecoming Queen, Juanita Ortega.
We are a very large population here at Cerritos College and we are wonderful people, please don’t let us just slide by…we are students too!
I would also like to thank the few people in DSPS that have been helpful and caring to me, as well as have given much of their time and efforts to me and many other students also: Judi Holmes, Gerri Greene, Elizabeth Page, Al Spetrino and Shauna (a student and tutor). This is just naming a few; I thank everyone in DSPS.
Thank You,Nikki Lucero,Disabled Student, Child Development
