Men’s basketball starts season with 2-1 tournament

The men’s basketball team started their season this weekend at the Saddleback Tournament. The team managed to take third place in the tournament.

The Falcons played against teams who are rated in the top eight in the preseason polls.

In their first math against Grossmont the Falcons took over and won the game with a 77-47 score.

The Falcons only loss in the tournament was to Riverside, which went down to being a one, point game resulting in a score of 70-71.

This was an exceptionally close game since Riverside is the team who took first in the tournament.

The Falcons picked themselves back up and took charge in their next match against Long Beach added another win,72-63.

This year’s team is filled with a great amount of size, this group of guys is not only athletic but the whole team has been blessed with size.

The height on the team ranges from 6’0 to 6’8.

“This team collectively has the most height sense I have been here,” said head coach Gary Cain.

Derik Wade (all tournaments); Matt Reid; Malcolm Haron; and Leo Seja were the guys who took charge this weekend.

“Although are wins are a collective effort those four really had a goodweekend,” said Coach Cain.

With the team still being new and fresh it is obvious to see that this team has athleticism and size. The team also has the ability to set themselves up to score.

“The most important strength we have is that we will play hard in every game for forty minutes,” said Coach Cain.
