Men’s Basketball gets back to work after a week off

The Cerritos College men’s basketball team has posted a 6-2 record after three weeks into the season. After a week of no games, the Falcons are ready to get back on the court against some competition.

They couldn’t have picked a tougher opponent to get back into action with, as they travel to face top-ranked Los Angeles City on Wednesday at 7:30 pm. The Falcons follow that game by facing Fullerton on the road on Saturday for a 7:00 pm. game.

Other than a 30-point win over Grossmont (79-49), the other seven games have been decided by an average of 4.7 points, with the Falcons coming out on top in five of them. Had it not been for a one-point loss to Riverside and an eight-point setback to Mt. San Jacinto, Cerritos would be looking at a perfect 8-0 mark.

Sophomore guard Ronald Banks leads the team with a 12.4 scoring average and is one of six players that has connected on a three-pointer. Freshman guard Matt Reid is second with an 11.4 scoring average, while he also leads the team with a 4.1 assist average and has made 26-of-30 (.867) free throws.

Freshman center Leonard Ceja has made 61% of his field goals on the year, while sophomore forward Malcohm Heron paces the team with a 6.6 rebounding average.
