A Guy Thing

If there is a guy thinking about tying the knot with that special girl, then “A Guy Thing” is the movie he should see.

“A Guy Thing”, staring Julia Stiles, Jason Lee, and Selma Blair is not just a chick flick but also a great comedy for the guys too.

Paul (Jason Lee) groom to be, is about to get married to the perfect girl, Karen (Selma Blair) until the day after his bachelor’s party, he awakes finding a strange woman in his bed who happens to be Karen’s cousin, Becky (Julia Stiles).

Paul, who doesn’t remember doing anything the night before kicks the woman out. Thinking the worst while realizing that Karen is about to come over, he makes up a little white lie hoping she doesn’t find out.

Everything works out fine until Karen introduces Paul to Becky, her cousin, who just happened to be the woman who accompanied him a few nights before.

Before long, a little lie becomes an extravagant one as Paul gets himself into a lot of misunderstandings.

In one scene, Paul arrives for dinner at his future “in-laws” house. When meeting family members with Karen, he spots Becky or the woman he thought he slept with in the kitchen. Frantic, he hurries away from Karen into an upstairs bathroom and locks himself in. Karen and other family members hurry to see what’s going on when Paul plays sick while trying to escape through the bathroom window.

After bumping into Becky throughout different scenes of the movie, Paul realizes he likes hanging out with Becky. At this point in the movie, he starts to wonder if Karen is really the wife he was supposed to marry.

Another scene in the movie shows Paul and Becky driving in the city one evening. As a hill approaches, Becky tells Paul to take a chance and accelerate faster. As Paul does this, the car flies off the hill and onto the concrete again causing the bottom bumper to spark. They both laugh and have a good time.

This film is great because it makes you think about decisions that could affect the rest of your life, but in this case, Paul’s life. Being in your comfort zone and knowing that you’ll have the perfect wife with the perfect job making the perfect money will not always be the perfect solution to someone’s life. Getting out of your comfort zone and not having the perfect everything but still having fun and being yourself may be a better lifestyle.
