Yackity-Yack, Bomb Iraq

As our nation gears up for war, a heated conflict has begun already. No, we have not yet engaged our foreign enemies, we are too busy fighting amongst ourselves.

Historically, war has always been a unifying time, internally speaking, for a country. When a foreign threat arises, the people of warring nations tend to band together against the infidels, chanting optimistic slogans, demanding their enemies blood, and praying to whatever deity to insure their righteous victory.

This war is different. The internal conflict within the United States over the issue of war with Iraq is both unusual and unsettling. The political atmosphere present right now is nothing like that of WWII, but more closely resembles that of Vietnam, and we all remember how that turned out.

No one denies Saddam Hussein is an evil dictator, and needs to be removed. The major debate, it seems, is over timing. It appears that the question on UN minds is not if Hussein will attack, but when and how.

If there is not sufficient evidence presented to countries like France that Saddam is mounting a nuclear strike against the entire world, they will not condone military action. They cannot deny what Hussein has done, and most likely will do, but they would rather wait until he acts on the large scale to intervene.

This way of thinking, unfortunately, is not limited to out French “allies”. Various other UN nations, and even many people within our own borders, share this type of reasoning. This may be our downfall.

We all know what Saddam Hussein is about. He is not non-chalant about his desires to destroy America and our way of life. He has been amassing chemical weapons; he’s even used them on his own people. I doubt there are many in the world, including the citizens of Iraq, who would place Saddam in much higher esteem the Satan.

Nonetheless, wussy UN nations argue for more diplomacy, more agreements for Iraq to ignore, and in short, more time for Saddam to hide the weapons he has, and do whatever else he pleases to evade pitiful UN intervention and prepare for war.

We are wasting time with the UN. I can’t help but feel people in Europe must have short memories. Why are they so quick to take the word of an evil fascist dictator so soon after they were conquered by the same type of regime…twice?

This type of foolish optimism probably has something to do with why the US has to keep bailing them out. Just keep in mind: where would France be right now without the US and its barbaric military? Speaking German, that’s where.

If the UN insists on waiting for Saddam Hussein to assemble a fourth Reich and march on the capitals of Europe before they do something about it, fine. We can go it alone. Britain’s got our back. Iraq poses no real military threat to the United States, and a war in Iraq, if committed, would doubtlessly be an easily and quickly accomplished task.Remember Desert Storm?

Anyway, Saddam has to go. That’s a simple fact. It is foolish to let him defy us and carry out his plans any longer. Get ’em while they’re young, that’s what I say. Iraq is filled with good people who are sick of living under a murderous tyrant, if not for our safety, do it for them.

This conflict would be a non-issue by now if the American people were of one mind about what to do. As long as people still think Saddam Hussein deserves another chance, he’s winning the game, giggling like a schoolgirl on his way to the smallpox factory.

Unite, people. Let’s spank this little shyster and get it done with, and systematically move on to the next big one. North Korea is high up in the running for second place it seems. That is, if we are serious about this war on terror we’re all hearing so much about, and evidently supporting wholeheartedly.

Put your money where your mouth is, America. And do it fast, for heavens’ sake, before we have to rescue France again.
