Thursday is “Sex Day.”

Free condoms, life-saving information and plenty of games will put together this campus event.

The Gay-Straight Alliance, Pre-Med Club and Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance will be co-sponsoring Thursday afternoon’s activities, designed to promote sexual awareness.

“Everyone is invited,” President of the GSA Gina Leguizamon said.

The day’s activities will include speakers, information booths, games and other activities.

Dianne Pirtle, Professor of sociology, is a speaker for the event.

She will be giving a brief overview of sexually transmitted diseases, sexual pleasures (particularly domination vs. sadomasochism) and female circumcision.

And though some students probably feel they’ve heard enough, Pirtle believes that much of the information discussed will be new to many students.

For example, she says, “I doubt very much that people know that in LA County, there is an epidemic of syphilis.”

Leguizamon hopes to promote awareness of STDs through activities involving statistics.

“We’re going to be playing games involving statistics,” she said.

For those who are interested, “Sex Day” is going to be held in LH1 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

It is free of charge.

“Of course there is going to be limited seating, because it is in a classroom,” Leguizamon cautions, “But there will also be tables outside
