The ASCC discussed many school issues at its meeting Wednesday.

One of the more visible issues brought up was construction on the LA building. It stopped last week because of the rain.

The drainage near the LA building was also a concern. Possible solutions for a more accessible, practical walking area out side of the administration building were discussed.

Tram and emergency phones operation were also issues at the meeting.

One member expressed concern over the school’s lack of math teacher and proposed that the school hire more. It was explained that the number of teachers on staff is decided one year in advance.

Possible replacement of benches was also discussed. On member expressed concern over the condition of some of the benches on campus and proposed that new ones be purchased.

The GO bond committee meeting was brought up as well, as the final stages of that process are currently taking place.

The Women’s History Month committee is seeking t-shirts for a WHM activity and asked members of the ASCC to donate some if possible.

The Avalon Project was also discussed at the meeting. There are many stipulations in how money from that project can be spent. (These deal primarily with capital outlay and the idea that revenue must be used for something that will benefit students in a permanent (or at least long-term) way.

One possibility for this may be instructional equipment. Some members are looking towards the possibility of making up for budget cuts with revenue generated from this source.
