Interview with the stars of Agent Cody

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures presents a Splendid Pictures, Maverick Films and Dylan Sellers production of Agent Cody Banks. Starring Frankie Muniz, Hilary Duff, and Angie Harmon.

Directed by Harald Zwart, Agent Cody Banks also stars Keith David, Cynthia Stevenson, Arnold Vasloo, and Ian McShane. The Screenplay writers Ashley Edward Miller and Zach Stentz, from a story by Jeffery Jurgensen.

MGM presented a press junk-it at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, February 28, 2003. Interviews took place with the Director, Writers and the leading actors in Agent Cody Banks.

Q : How did you get the idea of James Bond kid type movie?A: Jeffery Jurgensen: having the concept of a kid trained from his grandfather a type like James Bond and become the next secret agent for kids. This idea took 8 years to finally make with all the changes from MGM. With the help from Ashley, Zach, Frankie Muniz and Jason Alexander it was very well promoted to get a screenplay.

Q: What do you think of the movie? A: Zach Stentz: Agent Cody Banks is a “James Bond with a touch of a 15 year old hero”. Spy Kids has many differences from Cody Banks, such as the James Bond and having a teen play the role.

Q: What do you think about September 11? A: Jurgensen: the movie was to be released then because of “Kids vs. Terroristsit was funny at the time” but realistically its only science fiction.

Q: What are the rumors of a sequel? A: Jurgensen, Stentz, and Miller: if the movie does well on opening weekend, theirs no point but to make a sequel.

Q:What things made this movie special? A: Ashley Miller: the same studio that released all the James Bond movies is releasing Agent Cody Banks. Jurgensen said we wanted technology from a Bond Movie and what kids would like to use.

Q: How did you get involved with film? A: Harald Zwart: My Agent, I wouldn’t except being director till they told me it wasn’t another kid movie.

Q: What are your favorite movies? A: Zwart : I love all the James Bond movies and all the Back to the Future films. I just hat suave films.

Q: What upsets you the most? A: Zwart: America, NO WAR!

Q: What differences are there from American film industry and your film industry?A:Zwart: In the United States it’s allowed to test your ideas in a movie, in Norway it isn’t logical to do that, you just film the movie and that’s it.

Q: What was the budget of the film?A: Zwart: The films budget was $28 million to film because we had all those Executive Producers.

Q: What did you think of the teenagers in the movie?A: Zwart: Frankie is very friendly, he can relate to everyone, and Hilary is very liberal and has great acting skills.

Q: What can you tell us about the film?A: Zwart: Well Hilary is the only one who kills in the movie, I had the Norway Soccer team Flag put on Cody’s bedroom door in the beginning of the movie. All the fight scenes were real and the boarding scenes where we used Frankie’s double. The movie is much realer then Spy Kids.

Q: What is the rating of Agent Cody Banks? A: Zwart: The Motion Picture industry rated Agent Cody Banks PG it was rated very quickly.

Q: What things are in the future for Agent Cody Banks? A: Zwart: Agent Cody Banks DVD is going to be much better because were doing a documentary of the making of the film and adding all the deleted scenes from the movie.

Q: Do you think of Frankie Muniz as a Sex symbol?A: Zwart: Thinking of 16year old girls screaming to sexual delight, no I don’t think that yet.

Q: What was it like working with teen actors? A: Angie Harmon: They have a professional and kind heart.” Frankie is a very cool boy who is very bonding, I didn’t get to work with Hilary very much, and I had very few scenes to say much.

Q: What did you learn the most from acting?A: Harmon: Television is more inhabiting, you can get along, you can’t wing it, it has much more structure then a movie. Law and Order was a relaxing set, it was like come to roll with the punches kind of atmosphere.

Q: What inspired you? A: Harmon: My parents were models, so I was a model then I decided to be an actress. I have no regrets about being a child star. I’m an only child, have a loving husband and family. I love acting, God help me”, I will continue to act till I’m 75 years old.

Q: What things didn’t you like? A: Harmon: I was nervous to work with teens in the dressing room; it was nerve racking because they looked at me changing. My breasts were worked out a lot in this movie; Couple of big things and couple of small things.

Q: How did you feel about your character and what are the differences between other roles? Are you like them in real life? A: Hilary Duff: Natalie and Lizzie are two different characters, I’m a mix of both Natalie and Lizzie, I’m an action pack teen

Q: How’s your personal life at home when you’re not working? A: Duff: I have a normal life with my friends, just hanging out. My friends are very supportive, like when I get a new movie they congratulate me.

Q: What did you enjoy about the movie?A: Duff: I loved my character and I actually killed someone, Dude, I killed someone

Q: What do you enjoy more TV, Music, or Movies? A: Duff: I enjoy all of them, but the process of a TV show is better then a movie with a steady character.

Q: What dream project do you see for yourself in the future? A: Duff: I would love to do a teen movie about “How to lose a guy in 10 days”. I also have a new album coming out in September of 2003. My show Lizzie McGuire is ending soon we have only four more episodes left till the release of the movie May 2, 2003.

Q: How did you get involved in the film? A: Frankie Muniz: About 2 to 3 years ago my agent told me about it, this script was full of energy I had to do this film, but the script was different from the original when it was edited by MGM, they changed parts to fit the actors.

Q: What was the weirdest thing to happen to you with a fan? A: Muniz: One day I was walking and one of my fans asked me to cut a piece of my hair off, I said ‘its my hair!’

Q: What hobbies do you have, when you’re not working? A: Muniz: I’m a huge basketball player, I love the LA Clippers, and I love driving and watching TV. I’m reading the Great Gaspy for school right now.

Q: What is your favorite scene?A: Muniz: My favorite scenes are the ones were I’m doing the stunts. I do most of the stunts except the snowboarding down the mountain I even fight in this film.

Q: What is your favorite gadget? A: Muniz: It would have to be the BMW skateboard; I used in the movie.

Q: What do you see in the future?A: Muniz: I have some movies coming this summer. I gotta keep the films rolling for my fans.

Q: Do you see yourself as a sex symbol? A:Muniz: If girls think I am hot, that’s just cool with me.
