In a unanimous vote the ASCC Cabinet approved the Model UN funding proposal of $1, 1713.50 for it Model United Nations from the Far West Conference to be held on April 21 through April 24 in San Francisco on Monday.

The Cabinet reconsidered the proposal on April 3 after members originally opposed the funding bill on Mar. 27 in a 3-4 vote and questions were raised over the total amount of money being asked.

The reconsideration of the bill stems from ASCC Cabinet denied the Model UN club funding proposal of $1, 713.50 for eight students and one adviser.

ASCC President Paulo Amaral said that the main concern brought up by the ASCC Senate was how ready the Model UN club was ready for the conference and was it ready to represent Cerritos College.

ASCC Vice President Charlene Angsuco suggested that mock conferences be held and those mock conferences will be.

On April 11 the ASCC will be held a mock conference along with Long Beach City College in order to prepare the Model UN for the conference on April 21 through April 25 in San Francisco in order for the members to be prepared.

Christopher Olivares, commissioner of convocations and fine arts, said that although he initially voted against the proposal he now supports the reconsideration of voting for it on April 17.

However, Cynthia Ho, commissioner of budget and finance, said on April 3 that after speaking to the adviser of the UN club and secretary general Roberto Molina after the Mar. 27 vote the issue of the total amount being asked for was resolved and understood.

Lastly, with the concerns being address the Cabinet approved the funding bill.
