Brittany Murphy shows off vocals in Oakenfold’s single

Brittany Murphy shows off vocals in Oakenfolds single

Can Brittany Murphy sing?! Yes, it is true as Murphy sings on British DJ Paul Oakenfold’s new song “Faster Kill Pussycat” from his upcoming CD, A Lively Mind (Maverick Records) to be released on June 6.

The first single off Oakenfold’s second artist album follows 2002’s Bunkka is a catchy tune due to the vocals from the “8 Mile” star.

It is hard to believe but, at first listen Murphy sounds and sings like that other British songstress Kylie Minogue.

Like Minogue, Murphy has potential of being a music star. Why not? She has a voice.

Film stars who have crossed over have not had good sucess (Lindsay Lohan) but other have had lukewarm success (like Jennifer Lopez.

“Faster kill fast is the pussycat/I can’t stand to see you cry/Honey you know where the world is at/Get what you want with your lucky eye,” sings Murphy.

The appeal of the song however, is the climax of the chorus “Better wake out this sleeping head/Did all the world pass us by/Some many things we could do instead/Get what you want with your lucky eyes,” and she ends singing, “You turn me on (yeah, you turn me on, yeah you turn me on).”

In addition, Oakenfold who has remixed songs for the biggest names (Justin Timberlake, U2 and Madonna) in music continues that success as he uses the turntables and keyboards to give the song appeal.

Lastly, Oakenfold knows who could give a song appeal like the other songs, such as “Starry Eyed Surprise” featuring Shifty, and “Nixon’s Spirit” voiced by author Hunter S. Thompson.

Murphy did expectionally well and it showed in her vocal range.
