John Camilleri, an 84 year-old cancer survivor, sat in the bookstore last Wednesday to discuss his most recent book, “Dad and Me: Our Loving Relationship.”

Camilleri described, “You might get watery eyes because (the book).”

“It has tragedy, adventure, romance, and immigrant struggle.”

The book itself is a timeline.

It reflects on life, love, survival and family with an emphasis on how much impact a father can have on his child.

The kind of influence Camilleri’s father had on him is what kept him alive and kept him from giving up while going through chemotherapy.

He remembers that his father told him to have faith in himself and “never give up just keep trying and if it doesn’t work try something else.”

Camilleri started his book while going through the therapy.

He wanted to leave a legacy for his children.

Camilleri remembers saying, “If it was going to be the last thing I did, I was going to finish my book.”

“Dad and Me: Our Loving Relationship” is now available in the bookstore for  $12.95.
