Picture yourself at Knotts Scary Farm, on a Wednesday, and thunder in the air.

While trying to continue to enjoy yourself at the park you start to wonder that this weather reminds you of how close Halloween is.

As you try to get out of the rain, you see a house.

You enter it and see a delirious doll, with scars across her mouth, and one in her forehead.

You think she’s harmless, boo! She’s chasing you screaming and her body is bent backwards. You get out of there as fast as you can.

This scenario is a typical day for Candace Rosales who works at Knotts Scary Farm and has manages to have dance rehearsal here at Cerritos.

She attends school and works part time as a delirious doll.

Her day consists of going to school, rehearsing for a dance event and at the end of the night she scares people.

“I saw this character three years ago, and I found it interesting, so I applied for the part and the maze designer hired me,” Rosales said.

“I use to play with dolls, but I didn’t tear their heads off when I was young,” she said.

She said she has had good times and bad times working at Knotts, she mentioned an incident where a 13-year-old boy grabbed her butt. She said, “It was frustrating and I seriously wanted to grab his ear and say ‘would you do that to your mother?’ but it was difficult to deal with because I really couldn’t do anything about it. He just got kicked out of the maze, but for all I know he probably did the same thing to someone else in another maze.”

Even though, its difficult balancing work, dance, and school; she finds time to have fun scaring people in the Doll Factory.

She said she had some good times working there. “My favorite thing about working at Knotts is that you get to meet a lot of new people and eventually become a family. Most of the people that work here, have been working here for years and it is always nice to have a sense of family here. It is also fun when we all get together and hang out we go bowling and skating. We get to relax.

“It takes me about 30 minutes to apply the make-up and clothes. Then I’m off to scare people,” she said.  I also have a dance event in two weeks and it’s going to be pretty hectic with this (Halloween Haunt) coming to an end and practicing for dance, but I can manage.”

She said her best experience working there was when she scared a lady and made her fall to the floor. “She saw me and she started freaking out, so I followed her to the next room, I jumped right in front of her and giggled really loud. She screamed and fell to the floor. She didn’t notice that she had fallen into a life-sized Barbie box. It was really funny and I tried not to laugh.”
