President John Grindel met with the Associated Students of Cerritos College, last Wednesday at the Senate meeting.
Grindel discussed two major/popular topics; one was the General Obligation Bond. The G.O. Bond is proposals for Cerritos College, to fund projects, and money that the school needs. To see the G.O. Bond proposal, log on to www.talonmarks.com
Asking for the ASCC help. To contribute to the “cuts.” ASCC has money from the Pepsi machines, and students’ funds.
Grindel explain that the bond is not a close deal.
“Still in process to evaluate the bond, the board will have to make a discussion, whether to have one or not. We can add to this, if we need to.”
The G.O. Bond will make Cerritos expand its branches, by remodeling, constructing new In the future, if the board decides to vote for the bond, then they might look into a group to do polling, to poll the community.
“Anybody who would like to met with me to discuss the bond, is invited.”
The second major topic, Grindel discussed was the State Budget Cuts, more known as “Budget cut.”
“Our hopes are that it’s not going to be that bad,” Grindel said

Cerritos College will have to cut 5.2 million dollars, for this semester alone. The college might have to cut from general funds, about 4 million dollars, and 1.2 million dollars from Caragacal Funds.
Then for the 2003-04 academic year, Cerritos will have to keep 5.2 million dollars and add another 2.4 million dollars, a total of 7.4 million dollars.
On the topic, on raising of students’ fees, Grindel answered with “The State is raising the fees, not us. We don’t want to do that, the Governor is, so you can write to him about it.”
