Daredevil proves predictable

I can buy a man who knows no fear. I can buy a superhero looking to serve justice throughout the community. But what I can’t grasp is Ben Affleck as a blind superhero in a cheesy attempt to become Daredevil.

Daredevil is about a man named Matt Murdock(Ben Affleck), who is blinded as a child and vows to give justice to all criminals in his community as Daredevil, after his father is killed by a crime boss.

He gains what is sort of like ultra-senses that almost make him able to see again. This explaination of his powers was in depth which was cool, because throughout the movie, you understood how he was able to see.

Murdock also had a love interest by the name of Elektra Nachio(Jennifer Garner) who also turns into a nemesis.

The love story between these two was almost what kept the story going. Nachio, although a cheesy(no pun intended) name, was a strong character who was able to show Murdock not only love, but compassion.

The audience also took pleasure in other interesting enemies, such as Kingpin(Michael Clark Dunkin) and Bullseye(Colin Farell) out to kill Daredevil.

I felt this movie was merely OK, because not only was I unable to grasp Affleck as a superhero, I felt that the movie dragged on in the plot.

The movie invested too much time in Murdock’s childhood, and not enough time into the actual story. Although I understand the need to provide a solid background, people were killed off too fast and that gave way for a weak movie.

Another thing that bothered me, was that in the beginning, Daredevil seemed more like a bully than a superhero. We all assume that superheros are the good guys, but we don’t often see them beating the crap out of the bad guy.

Superheros are supposedly there to try to decrease violence in the community, yet in Daredevil, it seems that violence is Murdocks only power.

If I were to give this movie a rating out of ten, I would probably give it a seven. To me, it seemed like it was a mediocre wanna be of Spiderman. In a time where awesome movies like Adaptation and The Pianist have surfaced, this movie lacked depth and real talent and the ability to grasp my attention.
