Talent for A Cause: Where Everyone Is A Winner

Talent for A Cause: Where Everyone is A Winner is a talent show being held by the Child Development Club on Tuesday, Dec. 3 in the Student Center.

“Our whole goal is to have a fundraiser, but more of a toy drive,” said the Child Development’s co-president Jovanna Ledesma.

“It’s not going to be a contest. There’s not going to be who wins first prize or anything, it’s just a show where we can try to raise money for a good cause,” said Ledesma.

There will be no try outs for the talent show, all that’s needed is registration in order to perform and anyone on campus can register.

Admission for the event is going to be free, but the club is asking for donations or an unwrapped toy in order to get into the show.

All unwrapped toys will be donated to the Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles and all donations that are collected will go to Adopt A Family for Christmas.

Adopt A Family allows families who won’t have a Christmas, to have one by receiving gifts so that they have something to open on Christmas morning.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and at that time, people will be allowed to come in and drop off any toys or donations that they have and to buy food.

“We will be selling nachos, Cup O’ Noodles, some drinks and we’ll be having baked goods,” said Suleyma Castillo, the club’s other co-president.

The talent show will run from 6 to 8 p.m. and will have a variety of different people that will be performing.

From magicians to comedians, the talent show will display different people’s talents. The show will also have the Cerritos College Dynamic Dance Club performing in the show. There will also be a performance by a member of the Karbakada Club.

The children from the Child Development Center will also be performing that night and will perform different songs.

“We want it to be a fun event. Kids are going to be in it and we have a variety of talent from young ones to older adults so it’s going to be a fun show and it’s all for charity,” said Castillo,” that’s our main goal, we want to give back.”

This is the first time that the Child Development Club has ever done this show so the club hopes that it turns out to be a success so that they are able to help out families who are having a tough time over the holiday season.

Anyone with any questions can also contact the Child Development Club.
