Patrick Mahomes and the offensive strong Kansas City Chiefs will face off against Richard Sherman and the scary 49ers defense in a highly anticipated matchup come Feb. 2 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.

Some Cerritos College students have provided their input on how they believe this matchup will unfold.

Cory Purnell, film major, predicts, “I think the Chiefs will win. Most likely because of how good Patrick Mahomes is doing. He has been telling the receivers it is his fault if he does not make an accurate throw. They almost made the Super Bowl last year as well so I think they have a really good chance.”

The Kansas City Chiefs finished the regular season with a 12-4 record behind strong performances from star players like Mahomes, TE Travis Kelce, WRTyreek Hill, and defensive safety Tyrann Mathieu.

The San Francisco 49ers finished off an impressive regular season as the #1 seed in the NFC with a 13-3 overall record.

This record could not be accomplished without the performances from QB Jimmy Garoppolo, TE George Kittle, CB Richard Sherman, and breakout rookie DE Nick Bosa.

Another student believed this game ending with a different outcome.

Nolan Brown, computer science major, predicts, “I’ve got the 49ers taking it. Their defense is going to make the difference. I hope Pat Mahomes has a good game but I think the 49ers will end up coming out on top. It should be a really good game though.”

The Chiefs beat the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Championship Game in order to make it to the Super Bowl.

They put on an offensive display having scored 35 points, but what was most impressive was their ability to stop powerhouse running back Derrick Henry from doing damage.

The Chiefs were still able to come out on top 35-24.

The 49ers reached the Super Bowl by beating Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.

RB Raheem Mostert, after being cut by six different NFL teams throughout his career, found his home and scored four touchdowns in the biggest game of his career so far. He looks to follow up that performance with another one this Sunday.

The 49ers defense did a great job of limiting NFL legend quarter back Aaron Rodgers to 20 points, all 20 in the second half.

The 49ers looked untouchable the first half ending the first half by the score of 27-0. The Packers ultimately started scoring most of their points in garbage time, having been too late to make a comeback.

San Francisco won the match 37-20.

The Super Bowl halftime show will be performed by international superstars Shakira and Jennifer Lopez.

The Chiefs star-studded offense will try and overcome the 49ers well fortified defense at 3:30 p.m. The game can be watched on Fox Sports, and will start with Demi Lovato singing the National Anthem.

Will the Chiefs win a second Super Bowl or will the 49ers win their sixth? Tune in on Sunday for this highly anticipated matchup.
