¡Hola Pansitas!

There’s a new and local place that offers great Vegan Mexican food.

Vegan and Mexican are not two words that are normally in the same sentence, let alone in one dish.

Guacamaya Oasis is a fresh and new place located in Downey on Imperial Highway. It’s in a small plaza but you can’t miss it with its colorful banner and parrot mascot.

It’s a small but cute place for photo opportunities, there are two backdrops and a mural of parrots.

There are many food options, if you are not about vegan life don’t worry, there are non-vegan options. Before ordering there is a small sign that reminds guest about the healthy ingredients used in all their food.

Vegan Crunchwrap and Vegan Horchata.

The first initial thought was, what a surprise! The vegan food taste like normal Mexican food, you can not tell the difference.

The vegan crunch wrap is filled with pico de gallo, guacamole, lettuce, and soy chorizo. Portion sizes are generous and worth the price. To top it off you can enjoy a refreshing vegan horchata that is 100% dairy free.

You never know what’ll you find in your local community, it’s great that Guacamaya Oasis offers great traditional meals with a healthy twist.

They also have vegan ceviche made with dried cauliflower, pico de Gallo, lime juice and spices served on a tostada.

Not only do they serve vegan food but they cater to every diet like Keto, Paleo, and Whole 30 diets.

Since the food is healthy you can expect to pay above the norm but that’s shockingly the last thing on your mind when entering the small restaurant.

Reggaeton music is played loudly throughout the restaurant and the staff is quick and friendly. Overall it truly feels like you’re hanging out with a group of friends.

When it comes to eating habits of many Latinos, statistics show that minorities are at the top percentile for diabetes and heart disease. Personally, these diseases affect some of my family and are handled in a serious matter.

Restaurants like Guacamaya Oasis offer great and healthy food. Make sure to try it out and make your pansa llena and corazón contento.
