Freeform hosted its annual Halloween House for the second year, where guests could expect to take the pictures of their dreams with backdrops from popular Halloween movies like “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Hocus Pocus” and “The Addams Family.”
Freeform, formerly known as ABC Family, hosts the event from Oct. 2-7, and describes it as an “interactive experience in the heart of Hollywood and the ultimate destination for Halloween lovers.”
Tickets were sold through the FreeForm website, and guests can either pay $27 for a general admission ticket, or for those 21 and over, $37 for an exclusive “Hocus Pocus” drag show with themed cocktail drinks.
The experience started in the Boozar, a large room where guests where able to win prizes by spinning a wheel and participating in a sack toss, or take photos in a “Scream” photo booth with props from the popular movie.
Guests could then walk through the pumpkin door to the Graveyard, where the Spiral Hill from “The Nightmare Before Christmas” centers the room.
Attendees could also take photos on Spiral Hill in Jack Skellington or Sally costumes, or they can view the various gravestones that decorate the room where Zero, Jack Skellington’s dog, could be found floating above his burial spot.
The Halloween House continued onto a section completely dedicated to the popular movie “Hocus Pocus.”
Sanderson’s Graveyard featured Winifred’s statue and Billy’s Plot, where guests where able to take pictures while laying in a coffin or next to a witch turned into stone.
The final room of the first floor is Sanderson’s Cottage where popular “Hocus Pocus” scenes would come to life by allowing attendees to interact with popular props from the movie, like the spell book, Winifred’s window and more.
“The entire Sanderson Cottage was my favorite part. I especially liked the photo-op of the cages where the sisters held Ernie and Jay in the movie,” said attendee Dana Alyss.
The second floor leads to sets from “The Nightmare Before Christmas” where guests were greeted by the Town Square, featuring the Mayor’s car and the popular fountain Jack Skellington emerges from the opening scene of the film.
Guests continue on to the Treehouse where they could dress up as Lock, Shock and Barrel, Oogie Boogie’s triplet henchman from the movie, and take pictures in their walking bathtub.
If they are in the mood for gambling, participants might choose to spin the Wheel of Misfortune or throw Oogie Boogie’s dice for a chance to win exclusive prizes, like a Sally jacket or “The Nightmare Before Christmas” board game.
Attendees can end the day by relaxing in the Addam’s Family Living Room, where they where able to take pictures on the famous couch from the movie.
“The attention to detail in all the sets was phenomenal and the lighting was so perfect that all your photos came out great no matter what,” said Sarah Cooke, who attended the event with her husband.
Merchandise was also available for purchase upon leaving the attraction, including FreeForm stickers, t-shirts and decorative mugs.
