Cerritos College International Students Association had its first international tea time on Sept. 20 at the Social Science building 138.

During the announcement of ISA, newly elected officials and talked about a float for homecoming day, many students were interested, like club member economics major Seuns Jun Lee.

He explained that the meeting seemed very entertaining and said “Am having a nice relationship with other cultures and friends attending.”

He also added, “I am also going to meet other ISA members and keep a great friendship with them.”

The ISA club International tea time of the day was Mexico and its heritage.

Some students like public relations major Yidegar Santiago Zuniga was one of many explaining ISA members its Mexican heritage.

He explained that everything went great and said “ I was nervous explaining my culture to the ISA members and be clear enough for them to understand it went great.”

He added, “ living in Mexico 15 years is good enough of an info source.”

Zuniga also added that the ISA club is a good way to meet new people around the world.

“I believe it gives them a second place to call home where they can get support and encouragement to be successful here and Cerritos [College].”

The International teatime also brought from Mexico taquitos and bread for student’s to eat including music from Mexican heritage.

International Students Association President and English major Abner Caguioa explained that the ISA meeting went well.

“It went really well and we exceeded expectations.”

He also said “This is a good way to promote diversity and a good way to network with different people.”

Caguioa also added “sharing more of the different cultures in the club, learning the differences and similarity of each other, it’s good for us as Cerritos students.”

He also said “To create a safe environment for our international students, but at the same time, learning to appreciate their culture, because this is really what ISA is about.”
