*Spoiler warning for those who have not played the Injustice video games or read the graphic novels.

DC Comics and Warner Bros. released the Red Band trailer for the new animated film, Injustice, and suggested that the movie will closely follow the source material.

The R-rated Injustice film is based on the award-winning DC video games series and graphic novels. The story follows the events after the Joker tricks Superman into killing his pregnant wife, Lois Lane, and destroys Metropolis with a nuclear bomb.

Based on the trailer, the animated film will be amazing and provide fans of the comics and video games with the satisfaction of a feature-length film of their favorite DC story arc.

The movie is set to release straight to blu-ray DVD on Oct. 19, 2021.

The trailer shows incredibly graphic scenes that even the video games refused to show, such as Superman punching through the Joker’s body and flying through another person.

With the trailer being just the tip of the iceberg, fans can expect to see more gorry images throughout the film.

The voice actors for the project also indicate a successful movie.

Laura Bailey is set to portray Lois Lane/ Rama Kushna. Bailey has an extensive history of voice acting, as she won the Game Award for Best Performance for her role in the video game “The Last of Us – Part 2.”

Stars from the original video game are also returning such as Fred Tatascoire. He portrayed the villain Bane in the game and will voice Captain Atom in the film.

The character design also shows that the original source material will be closely followed. Each hero and villain looks almost exactly as they do in the comics and games.

Superman’s outfit has a bigger chest symbol that connects to his cape, while Batman has longer ears on his cowl and longer fins on the arms.

DC’s and Warner Bros. are showing extreme attention to detail, as the pressure and expectations rise following their mismanagement of the live-action Justice League. The entertainment company is also planning to release more DC content with next year’s live-action film “The Batman.”

The success or failure of Injustice could affect Warner Bros.’s future with the DCEU franchise.

With multiple sources of reference for the project and years of fan input on the Injustice story, it is hard to imagine how Warner Bros. could miss their mark with this movie.
