Women’s track and field takes first at home invitational

Taking first in the 800-sprint medley, the Cerritos College women’s track and field team competed against several colleges in its first home invitational of the season.

Compton, Fullerton, Glendale, Modesto, Pasadena, South Western, Mt. San Antonio College and Trade Tech College were among the teams that competed.

In the 800-sprint medley, a relay race, a total of 52 women competed.

Khadijah Hall, Vernasha Poole, Ashley Sinkler, and Blair Allen represented Cerritos College in the event.

They ran against Dominque Dead Wyler, Joisha Anderson, Taylor Frank, and Tana Schwarz who ran for Fullerton College.

They also competed against Megan Morias, Taylor Renae Wilson, Nicole Barry, and Jazveen Brar who ran for Modesto College.

Blair Allen helped Cerritos in its win at the last leg, as she ended the race at 150.32 seconds.

Modesto College came in second place, and Fullerton came in third.

Poole said, “I was just trying to hurry up and end the race”.

Vernasha and Blair both said that they felt confident in their team’s preparedness for the meet.

Cerritos’ next track meet will be Feb. 24 at 10 a.m at Compton College.
