Falcons defeated against the Rustlers

The Cerritos Baseball team obtained their fifth defeat against Golden West College by 12-1 on Tuesday. After a tight first win against Mount San Jacinto, the Falcons went on to a tough defeat.

The Golden West Rustlers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning thanks by No. 7 Nelson Padilla and No. 15 Jesse Fonteboa which scored the first two runs. The score would remain 2-0 in favor of Golden West until the top of the sixth inning.

In the top of the fourth inning left hand pitcher No. 31 Anthony Gonzalez, Jr. was replaced by left hand pitcher No. 41 Joshua Jorgensen. In the top of the sixth inning, Golden West scored eight runs to take a 10-0 lead.

Padilla and Fonteboa both scored their second run of the game, meanwhile No. 19 Enrique Bennett, No. 20 Austin Schell, No. 33 Zakk Morgan and No. 34 Jeff Zordani would score in the top of the sixth inning.

The eight runs scored by Golden West lead to another pitcher change left hand pitcher No. 41 Joshua Jorgensen was replaced by right hand pitcher No. 26 Vincent Martin who would finish the game. However, Golden West scored another run in the top of the eighth inning to take a 11-0 lead. No. 21 Ezele Wicks scored the 11th run for the visitors.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Falcons would get their first and only run in the game after No. 9 Shea Estrin at bat went on to third base. After eight innings Golden West lead Cerritos 11-1.

In the top of the ninth inning, Golden West scored their twelfth and final run to make the final score 12-1 Golden West over Cerritos. No. 4 Jose Ybarra scored the final run for the Rustlers.

Golden West went back to winning ways after a tough defeat against Grossmont College 5-0 last Friday. The Rustlers are now four wins and four defeats this season.

Golden West will travel to Bakersfield to play the Bakersfield Renegades on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The Falcons are now one win and five defeats this season. Their next match will be home against the cougars from the College of the Canyons on Friday.

The Falcons will have five away games. On Tuesday, Cerritos College will travel to Fullerton College to take on the Hornets.

On Wednesday, the Falcons will travel to Fullerton College to take on the Hornets. Next Friday the Falcons will travel to Mount San Jacinto College to take on the Eagles. On February 26, the Falcons travel to Santa Ana College to take on the Dons at 2 p.m.

Head Coach Hector Zamora when asked on the team’s performance said, “We did not play good baseball. Golden West played good baseball and took advantage of the mistakes we made.”

When asked on what team needs to improve on Zamora stated, “We need to have urgency and be ready to compete.”
