Falcons acquire 19th loss of the season against LA Harbor College

The Cerritos Baseball team obtained their 19th defeat against Los Angeles Harbor College by a score of 15-10 on Mar. 28. This is the Falcons 10th defeat of the conference championship.

In the top of the first inning, Los Angeles Harbor College took a 4-0 lead thanks to their catcher No. 24 JJ Duarte who singled to second. Infielder No. 2 Eric Alamillo scored and No. 8 Sounandajie also scored.

Infielder No. 3 Isaiah Bumgarner doubled to left field, Duarte and pitcher No. 33 Jake McKenna both scored.

In the top of the second inning, the Seahawks scored a solo homerun thanks to Alamillo. McKenna singled to right center and Duarte scored again.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Falcons scored thanks to a single from No. 21 Cody Ahrens which led to the run scored by Second base No. 3 Alejandro Bueno. Later catcher No. 33 Andre Alvarez doubled to right center and shortstop No. 10 Aaron Paek and Ahrens scored. Alvarez would score on a wild pitch put the Falcons on the board 6-4.

In the top of the fourth inning, Infielder No. 7 Angel Garcia doubled to left center, McKenna scored, Alamillo scored and Suonandajie scored. First base No. 42 Danny Villareal reached on a field error by third base and Garcia scored.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Ahrens homered to left field and Bueno scored again. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Ahrens flied to left field and infielder No. 3 Trevor McInerney scored.

In the top of the seventh inning, Duarte singled to right field, infielder No. 14 Kawika Hubbell advanced to third, Suonandajie scored and No. 15 Andrew Castellon scored. Hubbell scored thanks to a grounded out pitch. Finally, No. 22 Andrew Garcia singled and Duarte scored again.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Falcons first and third baseman No. 34 Roberto Salazar, Jr. scored a homerun.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Cerritos added another run thanks to a single to left field from Ahrens and Bueno scored again.

In the top of the ninth inning, the Seahawks scored another run thanks to a single to right field from McKenna and Hubbell scored again.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, McInerney singled to left center field and No. 9 Shea Estrin scored for the 15-10 final score.

Coach Zamora when asked on the team’s performance said, “We did not play good baseball. L.A. Harbor played good baseball and took advantage of our mistakes.” When questioned on the improvement of the team Zamora stated, “We need to stop making silly mistakes and be ready to compete.”

The Falcons will travel to Los Angeles Harbor College to take on the Seahawks on Saturday Mar. 30 at 12 p.m. The Falcons will host Compton College on Tuesday Apr. 2 at 2:30 p.m.
